CRISPIN PORTER + BOGUSKY, BOULDER, JWT SHANGHAI, SHANGHI AND
MARSHALL STREET EDITORS, LONDON
EACH WIN A GRAND LIA AT THE
26TH ANNUAL LONDON INTERNATIONAL AWARDS

(London, 14 November 2011) The 26th LIA judging was held at the Wynn/Encore Hotel in Las Vegas, convening over a ten-day period. The juries, led by their respective Jury Presidents, viewed and scored every entry within their medium ensuring that all the work was judged equally. They concluded with final discussions to determine Grand LIAs, Statue Winners and Finalists.

There were the only three Grand LIAs Awarded out of a potential thirteen.

Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Boulder won the Grand LIA and a Gold Statue in The NEW Category with their work for American Express OPEN titled “Small Business Saturday”.

JWT Shanghai, Shanghai won the Print Grand LIA and three Gold Statues in Print for Samsonite Suitcase titled “Heaven and Hell”. They won a fourth Gold Statue for the same work in Poster – Personal Items/Gift Items.

Marshall Street Editors, London won the Grand LIA for TV/Cinema/Online Film - Technique for Heineken titled “The Entrance”.  Marshall Street Editors has also won a Gold in TV/Cinema/Online Film – Editing for their work on “The Entrance.”

“Winning a Grand LIA in this year’s Show is certainly something special. Overall, there were fewer statues awarded than last year. In this year’s judging, you had to be way above the mark for the jury to even consider granting a Gold. So imagine how much higher the bar is for the Grand LIA. We are especially pleased that for the first time in our history that an emerging market like China has won a Grand LIA.  Also, I am pleased to acknowledge that for the first time a Grand LIA has been awarded for TV/Cinema/Online Film – Technique.” remarked Barbara Levy, President of LIA. “It was obvious this year that the juries were only going to award work that is ground-breaking and innovative. Anything less was not considered worthy of a Statue.

This year for the second time, LIA is honouring the Network of the Year, Agency of the Year and Post-Production Company of the Year. These winners were decided based on the outstanding work chosen by the Juries across all media. The following is the Point System used to determine each honour:
Grand LIA = 5 points
Gold LIA = 4 points
Silver LIA = 3 points
Bronze LIA = 2 points
Finalist = 1 point

Network of the Year is BBDO
Agency of the Year is BBDO New York, New York

This year there was no winner for Production Company of the Year.

However, for the first time in 26 years, LIA is introducing and honouring Post-Production Company of the Year.  This year’s inaugural Winner of Post- Production Company of the Year is The Mill.

Of the 14,283 submissions, from 79 countries, less than four percent (3.6%) attained Shortlist status. Of those elite selections, only 0.4% won Gold Statues; 0.7% Silver Statues; 0.9% Bronze Statues and 1.5% Finalist. The vast number of submissions reflects the prestige and explosive growth of the London International Awards since its inception in 1986 when only 2,600 submissions were entered.
